[00:00:00] Speaker A: Foreign. Hey, welcome, everyone, to Jonathan's Leftovers. This is going to be for the episode of Strong Men of Faith Are Needed. And this is a segment that we have come up with in the last month or so. And basically what we do here at Jonathan's Leftovers is we give you a little bit of extra. Some practical things kind of to think about, things that we wanted to highlight that we just didn't have time in that main episode. And so that's what this is about. So, Jason. [00:00:39] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:00:39] Speaker A: What did you have for the folks that we just couldn't cover on the main episode there? [00:00:43] Speaker B: So, a couple of things. First off, we. We did finish our devotional, and Tyson actually brought it up and said, hey, that'd be great for guys to go through together. [00:00:51] Speaker A: Yes. [00:00:51] Speaker B: So if you're interested in that, email the. The Jonathan Project, podcastmail.com. it's always in the link. It goes through, you know, kind of resetting and recalibrating, as well as how you talk to your family, your wife, some leadership principles, and then it goes into mentoring out. But so I was thinking about this mentorship, and people always think there's more to it than there is. There's a great story in World War II where the American. This American squad was pinned down and these Germans were in this house, right? And they're. They're stuck. And this. This is. This captain comes up, and he's very frayed, which. Maybe it's fictional because it is a captain. No, I'm kidding. It's. If it was good nco, he'd be on it now. [00:01:40] Speaker A: But he goes. [00:01:42] Speaker B: He says, what are you doing? We got to advance. And they're like, we're pinned down. And he goes, all right, I'm gonna show you how. So he asked him, give him some cover, and fire. Runs there, kicks the door, throws a grenade in there, blows up. Then he goes in there and, you know, takes care of business. And he comes back to squatting, goes, okay, man, you've seen one, now go do one. It's that simple, right? Get at it. Get at the problem and explore together. You're going to grow together. [00:02:07] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:02:11] Speaker B: You know, when you're. When you're. Mentoring, think that is a. You're. You're pouring into somebody else. You're strengthening Another pearl of wisdom that I found that I'm going to. Tyson and I were talking, and he said, have you ever listened to Hezekiah's Prayer? And I'm like, I've read the Book of Kings, and I need you to narrow in my focus, Tyson, because I've slept since then. And this is where they're all surrounded, right. And Hezekiah seeks counsel. And he says. And it's in Second Kings, 1919. [00:02:47] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:02:48] Speaker B: And he says, he's asking God and he says that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou art the Lord God. And really, you got to think about your prayers and why you're doing things. As a dad, you always got to put on there. So that is it my glory? Is it God's glory? And I thought about that when you were talking about. So many people think this life's about them. [00:03:15] Speaker A: Yes. [00:03:17] Speaker B: And that's just not it. [00:03:19] Speaker A: No, it's not. You know, and I think that, you know, the role of strong faith, you know, a man of faith is his armor. Right. You know, a lot of men, you know, they can relate to battle scenes and, you know, there's all these different things. Well, you put on armor because you're ready to be engaged by the enemy. It's not just to look like you're a strong guy. It's not to look like a tough guy. It's not to walk, you know, absentmindedly. It is to be ready to engage and destroy an enemy. And it should be a foundation in that, in the Bible. And your faith is just that. It is a launching point. It is a building point for you to impact every area of your. Not only your life, but your business, your community, and most definitely your family. And, you know, the absence of that strong faith, it leads to that moral decay, weak family structures, and a loss of spiritual direction, which then translates to these future generations, which so many people like the bash and look at, but they didn't put in the work to help build that generation. And it also leads to the devolution of. Of society and why it doesn't matter certain aspects and triggers that you try to pull to change society, things keep spiraling the old drain because it's individuals that make up the society. And to become a collective. You know, there's three characteristics, Jason, that I found that wanted to kind of talk to here in Jonathan's leftover of strong faith. Demand that practical kind of look like, well, you have an informed faith. You know, we're not just ignorantly putting our hands up and chanting to. To the sky, which a lot of people criticize. And they, you know, they say all kinds of blasphemous things about the Christian faith. It is an informed faith. It's grounded in scripture and in gospel. You know, study to show thyself approved. That's what Timothy tells us. It's an engaged faith, actively living out obedience, service, service and leadership. That is one of the things that men can do. You know, when I go to a place and visit and we all have seen churches where you find women that are having to serve in every role and capacity and guys are just there ready to suck down oxygen and, and to just be there because the wife drug them out. Well, that's not the right perspective and attitude. And we talked about that in the main episode, which I encourage you to take some time and go back and listen to. But it's actively being obedient and not trying to be popular at home in your business. Community service and leadership tested. Faith strengthen through trials and perseverance. You're looking at two men that have not had sunshine and roses happen in life. And I'm willing to bet everyone that's listening probably has that same kind of thing. We can all say, man, life sometimes is just right. Punch me in the nose coming. It says it right as the famous Mike Tyson says that we all have a plan till you get punched in the nose, right? Well, what men do is you get up off the mat, you put on your armor and you go to war. And there's a lot of men that have just said, I'm going to just keep getting punched in the nose and I'm just going to let someone else, my wife, my sister, whoever is going to pick up the slide, we need to stop. Your faith needs to be tested. Jesus was tested. We're going to be tested. And it's okay to go through hard times. It's also okay to reach out and say, hey, I need some help. It's not weak, it's not unmasculine. It's not anything that society says. Life is a team sport, gentlemen. And if you're not on the team, you're going to get steamrolled by the enemy, the adversary, every single day. [00:06:50] Speaker B: You know, go ahead. [00:06:52] Speaker A: No, yeah, I was gonna say one, one last thing is I'm rambling here, but hopefully these are good nuggets for you guys out there is biblical examples of strong men of faith. Joseph, you know, he stood some stood strong in those trials and trusted God's plan. That was a rough go if you don't go back and read that. Daniel. Another rough go. But this man was able to find at the highest political levels in a foreign government favor because of why he was submitted and he followed. And he was a strong man of faith. Don't pray. I'm still praying. That was Daniel Paul. If you never heard about this guy Paul, who just loved to tear it out the frame, as my good friend would say against Christians, he was absolutely transformed and he never wavered in his mission once he was transformed by the faith. And that can happen to you too out there. Go ahead, Jason. [00:07:40] Speaker B: You know, I think what you had to say is, you know, we're all going to go through it, right. I don't get to choose my bottles, but I get to pick how I interact at them. You're going to go through it. You're either going to go through it like a child or like a man. The time will pass and that will, that will occur too. You know, as both of us have served and done numerous things, you know, if somebody ever asked me who is the most courageous person I've ever met and I will tell you, we talk about all going through it. When I attended this little church in northwest Alabama, it was a pretty rural church, but a man there who's led the singing, his I watched him bury his daughter and three grandkids on the same day. Right. And next Sunday, through tear filled eyes, he got up, led singing and said, God doesn't make mistakes. I'm still going to praise him now that moments, you know, is gone in time. Right. However, that made such a profound impact, you know, during those times of questions and so forth, he anchored in his faith. I'm very positive he didn't feelings or I mean I watched the man cry as he led the song. Right. The singing. But he anchored it in. And I think as is man of faith, you know, and we, we do and not bashing women who serve. I think that's great. That's an individual relationship with Jesus and get your servant on. But you know, you also as men, you can't sit there and be passive. Like that's not your role. And you're not just a financial provider if that's what your role is. You're no better than an atm. As a matter of fact, you'd probably be better. An ATM is actually a pretty good thing because it doesn't take up resources, it just gives things out. You know what I mean? [00:09:26] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:09:27] Speaker B: I mean, think about it. If you're, if you're really. That's it. If I'm just in this socioeconomic exchange here, right. Like I'm not occupying ATMs, not occupying the TV, like ATMs not requiring water, food. So be more than an ATM. [00:09:43] Speaker A: Yes, sir. Absolutely. Absolutely. [00:09:47] Speaker B: You may want to edit all that ranting out. [00:09:49] Speaker A: Nah, never. Never. That's the wrongness. That's being real. Like, you know, it's. It's authentic. And anyone listens to the main episode. I absolutely destroyed a famous quote. And you'll have a laugh, as I did, too. Hey, folks, that's Jonathan's Leftovers.
