[00:01:08] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:01:09] Speaker A: Eating for real. Good for the next week. But here at Jonathan's Leftovers, we want to serve up a little something practical for you guys as well. As we talked about, really, the mission didn't stop. It really started when Jesus got out of the grave. So I just had a couple five truths and you can jump in. Add to that, you know, truth number one after the resurrection and how to make it a focus in your life, in your devotional time all year long is the tomb is still empty. You should rejoice. It's a perspective there. Matthew 28 says, he's not here. He has risen just as he said he was telling. That is Matthew's accounting of what was told them. When the two ladies went, angels talked to him and he's still alive. There is a point that we should really take away. Jesus is alive. It wasn't just the stories. Not a once a year kind of check the block. There is power in knowing and hope that my king is alive.
[00:02:04] Speaker B: Yeah, I love that. You know when you said that and I dawned on me, the king is alive, the tomb is empty. We often want to put Jesus back on the cross.
[00:02:14] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:02:15] Speaker B: Back in the day when they, when they would sacrifice a lamb, it was a cover up, like we're covering the sins, you know, it's a co far. It's a covering.
[00:02:23] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:02:23] Speaker B: Right. But when John saw him, he goes, this is the one that takes away the sin of the world. Here's the difference, folks.
All right. If you've ever had athlete's foot and it Itches all the time. It's like sun, right? You put a sock over it, it ain't going away. It's just sock over it right here. The guy that's taking it all away, well, big difference. And you and I both know, yeah, when it goes away, it's different, right?
[00:02:49] Speaker A: It's relief. And that gets me to the second truth that you should enjoy all year from the resurrection. Jesus being alive equals rest. And man, oh, man. Jason knows I had a rough week. I had a rough week last week, just to say the least.
[00:03:05] Speaker B: But retired.
[00:03:06] Speaker A: I was tired. I was tired. And I, you know, through your encouragement and spending some time and getting some rest, I come to understand what Matthew 11:28 said. Come to me, all who are weary. We don't do that as guys. Let's just be honest. Guys, like, everyone out there, just. Ladies, step away for a second. But guys, we don't like the rest, you know, and as much as people in our lives might tell us, we just want to plow through, But Jesus is saying, no, come to me because you're weary. And I'm not talking about physical rest here. I'm talking about that mental stuff, some of those challenges that you're going through. That's what Jesus is saying. You know, he's ready, he's waiting, he's alive. So take that rest.
[00:03:46] Speaker B: It's unique that you said that because, you know, growing up, you and I grew up very similar. It was the mentality, the. The motto was, if you weren't busy, you better get busy. You better find something to do.
So, but you.
[00:04:00] Speaker A: You do.
[00:04:00] Speaker B: You think about it, right? Like, as guys, I'll come to me, all you who are weary. Mental exhaustion, emotional exhaustion is. I'd rather be physically tired any day of the week.
[00:04:12] Speaker A: Any day.
[00:04:13] Speaker B: Right.
But we do need to go to him. And we had that great episode on spending alone time with him in the wilderness.
[00:04:20] Speaker A: Right.
[00:04:21] Speaker B: I can listen to that.
[00:04:22] Speaker A: Yeah. So point number three on the leftovers is, I put a big scoop of potatoes on your plate now. Right. His promises still stand. Okay, this is the great. This is probably the greatest thing, in my opinion, is he fulfilled all the scripture. It is absolutely whatever he said is gonna happen because he is the only one that had those tracks that walked to the grave and then never went anywhere else but out of the grave. Right. Lazarus was raised, rolled away. You know, he had that great experience, but Lazarus had to go back. Lazarus is not walking around right now. You know, that would be a whole different kind of thing. I say that humorously right. But guys, you have power and strength that you don't realize that you can act upon because he walked out of that grave and his promises are true. Take advantage of that every single day, not just on Easter weekend.
[00:05:18] Speaker B: The great I am. Let's start with that. I am the God of Jacob. I am right. That's a continuous existence. It's a present tense.
And. And you're right. He. Resurrection is what we need to focus on.
[00:05:34] Speaker A: Yes, sir.
[00:05:35] Speaker B: Walked out. You got power.
[00:05:36] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. Good old point number four. He still calls fishermen. We talked about in the main episode here you go back and listen. He calls guys. When you want to slink back to a little comfort, your old lifestyle. He doesn't give up on you. Peter denied him. I have done a lot of bad things. I do a lot of bad things all the time. It's only by the grace that I have found in my Lord and Savior that I'm. I'm covered by that. But Peter denied him. Jesus and him. Jason said it really well in the main episode. They had some eye contact as Peter is finishing up cursing, by the way, adamantly. He didn't know Jesus. Jesus went and found this fisherman because Peter tried to slink away. There's a beautiful moment Jason highlights that we talk about on the main episode where Peter ran with John to the tomb. But here's the thing that you notice. He still walked away.
[00:06:30] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:06:31] Speaker A: He saw the tomb was empty. It hit him probably like a ton of bricks. Everything Jesus said was true. And I denied him. I'm out of here. Going to go fish. That's what I know to do. I'm not good at this preaching thing. Guys, it doesn't matter. Jesus is looking for you. You might not be a fisherman, but it's proverbial. Whatever you do, the thing that you are doing, you've done, he's willing to call you to something greater. You just have to open your heart and trust him.
[00:06:57] Speaker B: You know, I love what you had to say. He. Not only is he calling fishermen, but you are once dead, now you're alive. It's hard to hide that. The next thing it says is, you can't hide a light on a hill. Right? You can't put up. You can't put it under something.
[00:07:12] Speaker A: No.
[00:07:13] Speaker B: Light permeates the darkness. And you and I both know from like a tactical sense a light, you can see it a long way off.
So when guys are sitting there going, well, I'm just, you know, I don't know that much about the Bible. I don't Know this, let's put it in this perspective. You may not have been good at push ups, but at some point you had to start.
There's, there's great stuff. Just because you're 40, 50 years old, you may go, well, I'm too old to watch. Superbook is a phenomenal cartoon.
I still love Super.
[00:07:47] Speaker A: No shame.
[00:07:48] Speaker B: No shame. No shame whatsoever.
There's stuff out there, but if you don't get in it, it's like going to the gym. If you don't. If you don't get in there and get at it, you still be weak.
[00:08:00] Speaker A: Yeah. Walking in the gym don't do nothing for you.
[00:08:03] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:08:03] Speaker A: You got to actually pick up that heavy stuff around you.
Which brings us to a beautiful point. Jason said the light, the gospel still saves. Believe it or not, the message didn't stop just because he got the cross. The cross is amazing. It's a powerful thing I cannot fathom. And I know we're going to spend a lot of eternity learning of how God looked at us. We're sinners. Puts himself into human form and takes all of the weight and the burnt of sin and goes to that cross, which Roman execution, the crucifixion is horrible. But the amazing thing is not that in itself, it's what happens afterwards that all of us who have followed that never got to see that because of the disciples who went to their deaths. Jason talks about this in the main episode, believing. And thousands and thousands and thousands and billions of people since then have believed the gospel is still worth sharing that message, that Jesus got up out of the tomb and he has something for you. You weren't an accident. No matter what your parents or whoever said, you're not a mistake. If you're here, you have a purpose and you need to get to it. And that's the challenge that Jesus is asking us to do.
[00:09:14] Speaker B: No, I agree with you wholeheartedly. Go with 0.5. Go with it. I love it. I'm saving my last comment, so.
[00:09:23] Speaker A: No, that, that was, that was 0.5.
[00:09:24] Speaker B: Oh, was it?
[00:09:25] Speaker A: Oh, yeah, that was, that was, that was rolls and corn there. Go ahead.
[00:09:29] Speaker B: Oh, don't make fun of folks have been hitting the head. You know, I thought that was. Anyway, all right, there you go.
[00:09:36] Speaker A: That's all right.
[00:09:36] Speaker B: That's how you know this is not rehearsed.
So Jesus does still say, right? If you're, if you're listening to this, you have no idea. It's simple. Hey, Lord Jesus, I. I am a sinner. I'm lost without you. I Accept you as my Lord and Savior. It's that simple, right? It's not real complicated. As a matter of fact, you could probably shorten it down.
The thief on the cross, he didn't have a lot of oxygen, and, you know, he. He got in.
So if you. That. That's the big thing, you know, when you think about that empty tomb. It is about the empty tomb. When Peter was solely focused on the cross and he says, oh, man, we can't get to the cross, Jesus looked at him and said, get thee behind me, Satan. You're. You're impeding what comes next. And what comes next is that resurrection. If you're lost, that's what you have to remember. What goes beyond it is, is there are so many people that died on the cross. I don't know. I thought about looking it up, but there's a bunch. Right. And I mean, it's well documented.
[00:10:42] Speaker A: Yep.
[00:10:43] Speaker B: Only one person beat it. Right. And that's Jesus Christ. So that's what makes it unique. It's the empty tomb.
[00:10:50] Speaker A: Yes, sir.
[00:10:51] Speaker B: Right.
[00:10:51] Speaker A: Yes, sir.
[00:10:52] Speaker B: So thank you for. For coming forth with those.
[00:10:55] Speaker A: No, no. You know, and I guess what I'll leave the guys as. As we've hit the. The magical marker there is is this. Ask yourself. Ask yourself this question, guys, as we go through the rest of the year, we're now moving after resurrection. You should be a little fired up is how are the lives of people around me being resurrected because of my walk with Christ?
[00:11:15] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:11:16] Speaker A: How are you being that influence that restoration in people's lives? Because that's what our Lord and Savior is asking us to do. So that, folks, is another episode of Jonathan's Leftovers. You can find this and the main podcast, Jonathan Project Podcast on the same great and wonderful platforms that be Apple, Spotify, iHeartRadio, Amazon Music, you name it, you can find us there. Talked about this on the main episode. I'm highlighting it again because it's the same day for us, but what should men do? All right. It gives you a little way to talk because some guys are, hey, what do you mean, what should I do? And you can just point to them, say, brother, read the back. Stand fast, be watchful, be strong. And I love it be mentioned. It's what this shirt tells you to do. And that comes from the Bible, so I love it. Jason, always fun to do this with you.
[00:12:25] Speaker B: Yeah, bro.
[00:12:26] Speaker A: Have a great week.
